Homework Information

Most of the time, homework will include spelling and fluency practice. Typically, your student will have choice boards for practicing their spelling words.

In addition, each week students will have a story that should go back and forth from school to home. Each day, I will do a 1 minute timed reading with each student. The student should then, at home, do a one minute timed reading, then read the story all the way through once for comprehension, and then again to practice pausing at punctuation and reading smoothly. After completing the three rounds of reading, your student should answer the comprehension question of the day that goes along with the reading.

Hi! I'm Ms. Tibbetts, and this is the Third Grade classroom website.

A little bit about me:

I am a highly qualified teacher, certified as a Classroom Educator for grades K-8, and as a Special Education Educator for grades K-12.

I have been a classroom teacher for grades K, 2, 3, 4 and 5. As a Special Educator, I have worked with students in Pre-K through 8th grade. I have over 15 years of teaching experience.

I love to sing, act, explore nature, and enjoy a good joke! I work hard to try to bring these things into my teaching whenever I can.

Third grade is a HUGE transitional year for students both academically and developmentally. This is the first year students participate in the state assessments. A LOT is expected this year. We work hard in this class, but find time to play hard, too!

My classroom motto for the students is : Your best is ALWAYS good enough!
