Reading
Students work at their own pace to focus on phonics skills through our Lexia reading program, which we attempt to use 20-30 minutes per day.
Grade level fluency rates throughout the year:
Beginning of year: 80-90 words per minute
Mid-year: 95-105 words per minute
End-of-Year: 120 words per minute
The third grade also uses Fundations, which focuses on the following skills:

Phonics, word study, and advanced word study (including the six syllable types)

Trick word (high frequency word) instruction

We also utilize Wit and Wisdom to help support vocabulary and comprehension.
